Excellent Dental Benefits
Thousands of healthy South Dakota smiles depend on Delta Dental. Our 2010 persistency rate (the percentage of subscribers continuing their coverage from one year to the next) was 99 percent. This is a testament to our commitment to our clients and their employees and evidence that dental benefits remain among the core benefits employees expect to receive from their employers.
As further testimony to our unrivaled industry expertise, we continue to evolve our benefit offerings. Enhancements to our new Rate Stability program and our Smile Smart for Your Health program have been well received by our customers and brokers.
Rate Stability Program
Since 1984, Delta Dental of South Dakota has limited rate increases to no more than 10% at any renewal. Starting in 2011, we implemented the Rate Stability program that rewards long time clients with caps on rate increases. For example, the maximum rate increase for a client with 15+ continuous years with Delta Dental would be seven percent (20+ years - 6 percent and 25+ years - 5 percent). This program showcases Delta Dental’s long term commitment to our customers’ oral health.
Smile Smart for Your Health Program
Because science continues to link oral health with general health, in 2008 we introduced the Smile Smart for Your Health program that provides enhanced dental benefits for patients with certain medical or dental conditions. In late 2010, we announced that we’d be adding to the list of conditions eligible for the enhanced benefits. Patients with the following conditions can receive added benefits like extra cleanings and fluoride treatments.
NEW People with periodontal (gum) disease
NEW People with diabetes
NEW Pregnant women
NEW People with high-risk cardiac conditions
NEW People with kidney failure or who are undergoing dialysis
NEW People undergoing cancer-related chemotherapy and/or radiation
NEW People with suppressed immune systems due to organ transplant,
NEW stem cell (bone marrow) transplants or those with HIV-positive status
NEW People at risk for oral cancer
These enhancements are based on scientific evidence that shows treating and preventing oral disease in these situations can improve overall health—saving benefits dollars on medical costs as well. |
